How To Volunteer

If you are a caring citizen who would like to volunteer your time and expertise in the case of an emergency or disaster, the City of Brandon appreciates your assistance.

If, and when, the need arises, a call for volunteers will be issued through the City’s website (Brandon.ca) and the media and the City of Brandon will activate its volunteer plan.

We are not currently at a level of response where the City requires emergency volunteers.

What Do Emergency Volunteers Do?
Dependant upon the emergency or disaster, volunteers assist their communities in many ways, including:
  • Providing essential services at a reception centre during an emergency or disaster;
  • Providing educational sessions to groups, businesses, schools about emergency preparedness;
  • Providing emotional support to people in need following a disaster;
  • Identifying potential food, clothing, lodging, pet care, resources, etc.;
  • Assisting with preparedness or response activities such as sandbagging.
