The City of Brandon is currently seeking qualified and interested citizens to volunteer for the position as photographer(s). Opportunities are available within a number of programs such as Brandon in Bloom, Neighbourhood Sweeps, Music in the Parks, Movie Under the Stars, Lieutenant-Governor's Winter Festival, Operation Clean Sweep and many other events held by or in conjunction with the City of Brandon. The position(s) length of time is ongoing and/or per event.
Responsibilities:
Capture photos in a public setting;
Capture photos that are tasteful, attractive and portray the City of Brandon and all areas of the organization in a positive manner;
Collection of information pertaining to each photo;
Collection of name and information through release forms;
Any other duties related to the collection of information and photographs.
Experience and Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Photography knowledge is an asset;
Knowledge in digital photography and PowerPoint presentations;
Planning, organizing and project coordination skills;
Independent and able to work with limited supervision;
Able to follow safety precautions when on site;
Able to follow direction and policies at all times;
Enthusiastic about photography and picture making.
Volunteer Requirements:
Must have own method of transportation;
Must have own camera and all necessary equipment to perform the above mentioned duties;
Must be social and enjoys outdoor settings/ events;
Must have good written and verbal communication skills;
Must be able to commit to three or more events on various evenings/ weekends;
Report to all scheduled shifts/events and meetings in a punctual and professional manner;
Notify the Coordinator in advance if unable to attend event.
Supervision:
All volunteers will be responsible to the City of Brandon Community Services Department;
Volunteers may be asked to cooperate in an annual review and assessment of the Volunteer Development Program and their overall experience volunteering with the City of Brandon.
