Open Garden Tour Participant – Volunteer Job Description

The City of Brandon is currently seeking qualified and interested citizens to volunteer to become a participant in the Brandon in Bloom Open Garden Tour. The event is an opportunity for Brandon residents to showcase their gardens on a specified weekend day in July.

Responsibilities:

  • Showcase your home garden to a number of gardening enthused individuals;
  • Provided self guided tours of your garden.

Experience and Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Planning, organizing and project coordination skills;
  • Able to follow direction and policies at all times;
  • Enthusiastic about gardening and landscaping.

Volunteer Requirements:
  • Must be willing to showcase your garden for a minimum of one day of the weekend event;
  • Must be able to showcase your garden to approximately 200 - 500 individuals;
  • Must open your garden to the selection committee for preview in the year prior to viewing by the public;
  • Notify the Coordinator in advance if unable to participate on planned date.

Supervision:
  • All volunteers will be responsible to the City of Brandon Community Services Department and City of Brandon Parks Department;
  • Volunteers may be asked to cooperate in an annual review and assessment of the Volunteer Development Program and their overall experience volunteering with the City of Brandon.
