Brandon General Museum and Archive Inc.

A Brief Organizational History:
A General Museum and Archives Committee was created by a unanimous resolution of this Mayor and council nearly three years ago – in 2007, our 125th year as a City. Council mandated the committee to develop a plan of action to establish a general museum and archive facility in Brandon. The resolution was based on Council’s appreciation of the need to ensure the collection, preservation and display of materials that are part of our history and heritage, and also a recognition of the potential for such a facility to boost tourism and contribute to the downtown redevelopment and renewal.

We have been working quietly and diligently towards fulfilling our mandate to move the project forward. On July 14, 2009, the committee was incorporated and elected our first executive comprised of:
  • Councillor Black as Chair,
  • Barb Andrew as Vice-chair,
  • Bill McGuire as Secretary/Treasurer.

We now have status as a registered Charity and all contributions can now be made with a tax receipt issued. Our name is now Brandon General Museum and Archive Inc.
